Invitation Ocean to City - An Rás Mór, Ireland's largest multi-craft race
Saturday 3 June 2023
Cork Harbour, Ireland
Dear rowers, paddlers, friends -

After a two year hiatus, last year's much anticipated Ocean to City race returned - with over 500 participants taking to the water in 200+ boats, in Cork's beautiful natural harbour. The event’s welcoming and high-quality reputation brings rowers and paddlers from across the world to celebrate all that Cork has to offer both on and off the water.

Now in its 19th year, this all-inclusive rowing event brings together everything from traditional wooden working boats, gigs, skiffs, sloeps, lifeboats, longboats, cutters and currachs, to kayaks, canoes, ocean sliding-seat boats and stand-up paddle boards. Have a look at our new Ocean to City video here to find out what the race means to us as a community: https://youtu.be/Cfjx36Au9KQ

Test yourself in this unique event
This spectacular race appeals to every level of competitor. For those looking to test themselves, those competing for our much coveted prizes or those that are looking for some fun and camaraderie, it's a great day out.
Ocean to City has four course distances to choose from, 2nm, 7nm, 12nm and 15nm - all finishing to a jubilant welcome in Cork’s city centre. More info here.

Registration opens 15th of February and special early bird deals as well as ferry discounts will be available. Visitng crews will be given a warm welcome at our Pre-Race Gathering on June 2nd, with traditional Irish music and local food tasters while meeting with other clubs. The Apres-Row After Party brings everyone together again with song, dance, food and drinks. The race is the flagship event of Cork Harbour Festival so there are lots of other maritime events happening at the same time. Our website has lots of useful information for participating crews. More info here: https://oceantocity.com/

We really hope you can join us this summer. Spread the word and we look forward to seeing you on the water in Cork this June.

Ps: if you can't make it to Ireland this year, please join the 5 Miles From Home challenge from your home waters! 27 Sept-1 Oct in collaboration with Welsh Sea Rowing and the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association. More: https://www.facebook.com/5milesfromhomechallenge/
